Basket weaving for Beginners: Saturday 11 May 9:30am-5:30pm
Basket weaving has a rich tradition as a craft, and not only does it enable you to make a beautiful work of art, you will produce something really useful too!
In this one-day course, you will learn the fundamentals of basket-weaving, from sourcing materials, to the techniques to create a basic basket, and to create a handle for it.
You will be encouraged to design your own basket - whether its a berry-basket for foraging, an egg basket, or even a bowl basket for fruit!
Suitability: Beginner up, 18+
What we provide: basket weaving materials, tea and coffee (*please bring your own packed lunch).

Instructor: Jilly Greig
Jilly is an avid basket weaver of many years standing. Working from her East Lothian home, Jilly likes creating baskets from all sorts of materials including the traditional willow. She learned basket weaving with Anna Liebmann originally, and has completed a City & Guilds level 2 qualification in basketry. She is a member of the Basketmaker's Association, Heritage Crafts and the Scottish Basket Makers' Circle.
