Embroidery Workshop: Sunday 19th May 1pm-5pm
Learn the fundamentals of embroidery in this workshop led by Amy Lowson.
Using a kit created by Amy, you will first learn a number of basic stitches and create your own hand-embroidered (bee and mushroom) pendants.
Everyone in the class will be working on the same design and Amy will be on hand to take you through each stage. All materials will be provided and you will have 2 new pendants (plus chain) to take home with you.
The afternoon workshop will cover -
- learning back stitch, satin stitch, split stitch, French knots.
- learning the tools needed for embroidery
- discussing pattern transfer
- sewing your pattern
- how to set your embroidery in the pendants
Suitable for beginners and 12+ if children aged 12 - 16 accompanied by an adult.
Soft drink and nibbles will be provided.
Suitability: Beginner, 12+ (12-16y.o. to be accompanied by an adult)
What we provide: all equipment, refreshments (soft drinks & snacks)

Instructor: Amy Lowson
Amy is a self taught embroiderer, who creates beutifully detailed embroideries from her home studio in East Lothian.
Amy began creating textiles in 2014 with weaving and embroidery being front and centre. With a passion for exploring texture in nature, Amy creates scenes from her garden and the coast where she lives as well as sewing detailed birds, butterflies, moths and bees and making them as life-like as possible. Her work uses a host of traditional stitches to make the details pop out of the fabric.

Candle-making workshop: Thursday 7th March 6:30pm-8pm
Make your own scented candle at our candle-making workshop.
You will be shown the step by step process of making a container candle, using a scent from our wide-ranging fragrance library.
You will assemble and hand pour your own container candle.
We will be discussing how to burn a candle correctly.
By the end of the workshop you will be able you will be able to make a soy wax container candle.
