Perhaps you remember our building as Bross Bagels, or even Douglas Bakery, but originally 105 Leith Walk was part of Edinburgh’s own ‘High Line’ - a freight train route connecting Leith Docks to the Caledonian Railway network. Sadly we lost the bridge in the mid 1980s, but what remains is a glimpse into the industrial heritage of Leith. The building was originally intended to serve as a passenger station for Leith Walk, but that idea was soon abandoned, and we are left with a truly monumental piece of architecture, moulded in stone and steel, with a railway platform for a roof! Time has not been kind to the building, and it has required a good deal of tlc to return it to a building fit for Leith Walk in 2023.
