Sashiko (traslated as ‘little stabs’) is a simple but beautiful form of Japanese embroidery. Thought to have originated in 17th Century Japanese, Sashiko was originally used as a way to strengthen fabric layers to make them more durable.

More recently it has been used to create stunning textile pieces , the patterns adding both texture and beauty to plain fabrics.

Sashiko is a simple but beautiful form of hand embroidery, originating from Japan. It creates stunning geometric designs and is very multi-functional.

It is a fantastic way to repair garments using visible mending making them stronger and more durable. It is perfect for upcycling fabrics in truly breathtaking new ways.
